Get the billed statement PDF from the card issuer, preserve its billing period, then convert and check purchases, payments, refunds, cashback, fees, and amount direction before export.
A credit card statement is not the same as a bank account statement. Purchases and fees increase the card balance, while payments, refunds, reversals, and cashback usually reduce it. The PDF also carries billing-cycle context such as statement date, payment due date, and total amount due.
HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and SBI Card each publish an official route to view or download statements. The comparison below uses those primary sources, while the illustrated panels are original references rather than copied screenshots.
- Follow official HDFC, ICICI, and SBI Card statement paths
- Choose the correct card and billed statement month
- Separate purchases and fees from payments, refunds, and cashback
- Keep the PDF, billing period, due-date context, and reviewed export together
Start With a Billed Statement PDF
Use the issuer website or mobile app to download the billed statement for the required month. A current activity screen can change throughout the cycle; a billed statement defines a fixed period and is the better source for accounting, reimbursement, or audit work.
Confirm the card, statement month, page count, and currency after opening the PDF. Save one original file per card and cycle. If you combine months later, retain a source-file column so every transaction can be traced back to its statement.
- Choose the card before selecting the statement month.
- Use a billed statement rather than screenshots of recent activity.
- Keep separate cards and currencies in separate source files.
- Never provide an OTP, card PIN, CVV, or banking password to a converter.
HDFC Credit Card Statement Route
HDFC Bank documents several channels. In NetBanking, open Cards, choose the credit card, select Enquire transactions and View statement, then choose the card and month-year before viewing or downloading. In Mobile Banking, open Credit cards under Pay, choose the card, and use Download Billed Statement for the required month-year.
HDFC MyCards can also provide an e-statement after you select the month. Use the channel already registered to you and check the generated PDF before conversion, because card variants and interfaces can differ.
ICICI Credit Card Statement Route
ICICI Bank says cardholders can use iMobile under Cards & Forex, select the credit card, and open View Statement for current, last, past, or annual statements. NetBanking also provides card statements under Cards and Credit Cards.
Select the required statement date and download the PDF. If the file is protected, use the password rule supplied by ICICI Bank for that e-statement; do not substitute a card PIN, CVV, OTP, or NetBanking password.
SBI Card Statement Route
SBI Card documents a website path: sign in to sbicard.com, choose View Statement, select the required month from archived statements, and download the PDF. It also lists My Accounts and Card Statement as the route for viewing statements online.
SBI Card says online statements are available for the latest 24 months or since registration, whichever period is more recent. The months visible in your authenticated account are the final reference for availability.
Convert Card Activity Without Reversing Direction
Upload the billed PDF to the matching card converter when one is available, or use Smart Extract for another issuer. Preserve transaction date, description, debit or charge, credit or payment, and any reward or reference fields supplied by the statement.
Do not apply bank-account direction blindly. On a credit card statement, a payment received or refund is usually a credit to the card account, while a purchase, cash advance, interest charge, or fee is usually a debit or charge. Labels in the source PDF remain the authority.
Validate Purchases, Payments, Refunds, and Fees
Choose at least one purchase, one payment, and one refund or fee when available, then compare date, merchant description, amount, and direction with the PDF. Check transactions around every page break and verify that statement summaries were not imported as transaction rows.
Card totals require context. Total amount due, minimum amount due, previous balance, and payment due date are statement summaries, not ordinary ledger transactions. Keep them visible in the PDF but outside the transaction table unless the destination schema explicitly supports statement-level fields.
- Purchases, fees, interest, and cash advances should remain distinguishable.
- Payments, refunds, reversals, and cashback should remain visible as credits.
- EMI principal, interest, and processing fees may appear as separate rows.
- Foreign-currency rows may include conversion and markup entries.
Use the Export for Expense Review or Accounting
Excel is useful for merchant categorisation, employee expense review, and recurring-charge analysis. CSV is useful for portable imports. Before sending either file to accounting software, confirm the card account, statement currency, billing period, date format, and duplicate policy.
Keep the card statement PDF as supporting evidence. The spreadsheet is a derived workpaper and should not be presented as an issuer-generated statement.
Troubleshoot Passwords or Missing Rows
Use only the password instructions provided by the issuer for the downloaded e-statement. If a PDF opens but conversion misses rows, check its pages, billing period, table layout, and whether it is a scan. Try the issuer-specific converter first and AI fallback for an unfamiliar format.
Never invent a missing transaction to make totals agree. Return to the PDF, identify the affected page, and make a documented correction only when the source supports it.
Frequently asked questions
How do I download an HDFC credit card statement?
HDFC Bank documents NetBanking under Cards, Credit Card, Enquire transactions, and View statement. Select the card and month-year, then use View or Download. Mobile Banking also provides Download Billed Statement under the selected credit card.
How do I download an ICICI credit card statement?
In iMobile, open Cards & Forex, select the credit card, and use View Statement for the current, last, past, or annual statement. ICICI NetBanking also provides statements under Cards and Credit Cards.
How do I download an SBI Card statement?
Sign in to sbicard.com, choose View Statement, select the required archived statement month, and choose Download.
Why are card payments shown as credits?
A payment reduces what is owed on the card account, so issuers commonly present it as a credit. Refunds, reversals, and cashback can also appear as credits.
Should total amount due appear as a transaction row?
No. Total amount due, minimum due, previous balance, and due date are statement-level summaries. They should not be mixed into the transaction table as purchases or payments.
Can I combine statements from several cards?
Yes, after converting each file separately. Preserve card, currency, billing period, and source-file columns, then remove overlaps before combining reviewed rows.
